I wear them 24/7 and nothing has changed. No change in colour, nothing broken, nothing at all.

    Your forward helix questions

Which size should I choose for my forward helix jewellery?

Here are some guidelines for choosing jewellery for a healed piercing, adapted to your ear. Your piercer determines the dimensions for initial piercing jewellery.

    Size guide - forward helix
Jewellery / measurementGuideChoosing the right fit
Stud / labret Wearable length to be measuredConfirm with your piercer according to your anatomy and placement.
Hoop 6 mm inner diameterThe shape of the fold can make a hoop uncomfortable, even with the right diameter.
Post thickness Often 1.2 mmKeep the same thickness as your existing piercing.
Decorative detail Small and well-proportionedLeave space near your face and other jewellery.

A hoop's diameter is measured on the inside; a post's length is measured along its wearable section, excluding the decorative detail. Compare with jewellery that already fits you and have the measurement confirmed if you're unsure.

For more guidance, see our forward helix guide.

Which type of jewellery suits the forward helix?

A small flat-back labret stud is often the simplest choice for the placement called anti-helix here, also known as the forward helix. Its decorative detail stays clearly visible near your face. A hoop may suit some ears after healing, but it is not suitable for every fold: have both the shape and diameter checked.

When can you change your forward helix jewellery?

Wait until your forward helix has fully healed before replacing the jewellery yourself. An absence of pain is not enough to confirm this: ask your piercer to check the piercing and the size of the new design. If the initial post needs downsizing during healing, this change is carried out by the professional.

Find the steps and precautions in our forward helix piercing guide.

How do I care for a forward helix piercing?

After washing your hands, clean the piercing with a sterile 0.9 % saline solution, then dry gently with a clean gauze pad.

Can I get a double or triple forward helix piercing?

Yes, on some ears, if the cartilage has enough space and the piercing angles are suitable. Small studs can create a lovely graduated line. Your piercer decides the placement and timing of the piercings: adding several pieces of jewellery involves more than choosing smaller designs.

What material do you use? Is your piercing jewellery hypoallergenic?

Our piercing jewellery is made from hypoallergenic titanium. Our jewellery has undergone laboratory testing. You'll find the material, finish and dimensions on each product page to help you choose your piece with confidence.

How do you build an ear stack with a forward helix piercing?

The forward helix draws the eye near your face. A small, light-catching stud is enough to give it plenty of charm, especially with your hair up. Pair it with a hoop at the helix, on the opposite edge: the two details frame your ear beautifully.

If you have a double or triple forward helix, small studs in decreasing sizes can create a lovely line. Each piercing hole needs enough space for its jewellery; several hoops are not automatically more suitable. A delicate look starts with respecting your ear's shape.

A design at the tragus continues this interplay near your face, while lobe jewellery adds volume lower down. Keep a detail in common and vary the shapes. With a conch or daith, leave enough space in the centre for the decorative details to remain distinct.

A hoop for a forward helix piercing

Fine and elegant, a hoop can highlight this cartilage edge on some ears. It brings a different line from a stud, but its curve must leave the fold free. Do not choose a diameter simply because it looks pretty on someone else.

The guideline of a 6 mm inner diameter needs to be adapted to your anatomy. Your piercer will check the available space and may recommend a labret if the hoop puts pressure on your ear.

What is a forward helix piercing?

The anti-helix, or forward helix in this selection, sits on the front edge of the cartilage, near your face and above the tragus, opposite the outer helix. A double or triple piercing is only possible if your anatomy allows it. An orbital, which connects two piercing holes with one hoop, is a different project to plan with a piercer.

To complement this detail near your face, explore our ear piercing jewellery and pair shapes to suit your other placements.
