    Your helix questions

What size should I choose for my silver-tone helix jewellery?

These guidelines are for choosing jewellery after your piercing has healed; your anatomy and the existing thickness of your piercing remain key factors.

Diagram of ear piercing placements

For a helix hoop, measure the inner diameter:

    Size guide: helix hoops
    Placement Thickness Inner diameter
    Hélix1,2 mm 8 to 10 mm

For a flatback stud (labret), measure the wearable post length without the decorative end:

Size guide: helix studs and labrets
    Placement Thickness Wearable length
    Hélix1,2 mm 6 to 8 mm

These measurements are a guide: keep the same thickness as your existing piercing and choose a post that is neither tight nor excessively long. If jewellery pinches or pulls, have the fit reassessed by your piercer.

Design shown in a gold-tone finish.

We like Avril for its line of crystals: the 8 mm size sits closer to the edge, while the 10 mm size leaves more room. The result depends on your ear; either way, the hoop should feel comfortable without pinching.

Measure across the centre of the circle, between the inner edges. The outer diameter includes the metal and is not the listed size.

Print at 100%. Check the 50 mm line, then compare with a hoop that already fits you.

What gives your silver-tone jewellery its shine?

We use an ionic palladium PVD coating. Palladium is a precious metal that gives the jewellery bright, light silver-tone reflections. This finish is chosen for its shine and high resistance to wear, helping to preserve the jewellery’s colour over time with everyday wear.

Which jewellery should I choose for my helix?

A flat-back stud adds a touch of light to the cartilage; a helix hoop follows its curve. A chain adds movement if its length and attachments are suitable. Choose the right size first, then the detail you love: a smooth design, a delicate motif or sparkling crystals.

Explore the different shapes in our helix jewellery collection and compare combinations with the Solstice Ear Stack Builder. Our ear stacks can also help you find a starting point.

    Can I pair a silver-tone finish with gold-tone jewellery?

Yes, and the mix can look beautiful! Pairing silver-tone and gold-tone jewellery brings contrast and character to your ear stack.

    Is this piercing jewellery hypoallergenic?

Our titanium piercing jewellery is hypoallergenic and nickel-free. Our jewellery has successfully passed laboratory tests for the requirements of the European REACH regulation. Check the specifications of your chosen design for its material and finish.

Is the piercing jewellery sold individually?

Our piercing jewellery is sold individually, so you can build your ear stack freely.

How should I care for my piercing jewellery?

Once you have removed your jewellery from a healed piercing, clean it with lukewarm water and a little mild soap, rinse, then dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive products and cosmetics.

Why is titanium a better choice for sensitive ears?

Our titanium is hypoallergenic and contains no nickel, making it a suitable choice for sensitive ears.

Can I wear your jewellery to sleep?

Yes, with well-fitting jewellery in a healed piercing. Flat-back studs can be particularly comfortable; a hoop may also be suitable if it causes no pressure or discomfort. While your piercing is healing, avoid sleeping directly on it.

Can I shower or exercise wearing your jewellery?

Yes. Our jewellery is made from titanium, a material that does not rust and is highly resistant to tarnishing.

For the silver-tone finish, it also has our palladium EverGoldℱ coating, designed to help preserve its shine and colour over time with everyday wear. After showering or exercising, rinse your jewellery if needed and dry it thoroughly.

Can I return jewellery if I don't like how it looks on me?

You have 30 days after receipt to request a return.

When can I change my helix jewellery to this piece?

Wait until your piercing has fully healed and have your piercer confirm this before changing jewellery for a different look. An ear that looks settled on the surface may still be fragile inside. Downsizing the post during healing is an adjustment carried out by your piercer, different from changing to decorative jewellery. The jewellery in this selection is for healed piercings.

How long does a helix piercing take to heal?

This cartilage piercing generally takes 6 to 9 months, sometimes longer, to heal. Have healing confirmed before changing your jewellery. The helix FAQ also covers pain, aftercare and sleeping.
