Silver-tone Flat Jewellery

A flat piercing places the decorative detail on the flat area at the top of your ear. Choose a small silver-tone design for a subtle look, or a wider shape if there is room. Check the fit against your ear's anatomy.

I wear them 24/7 and nothing has changed. No change in colour, nothing broken, nothing at all.

    Your flat piercing questions

What size should I choose for my silver-tone flat jewellery?

These guidelines are for choosing jewellery after your piercing has healed; your anatomy and the existing thickness of your piercing remain key factors.

    Size guide - flat
Jewellery / measurementGuideChoosing the right fit
Stud / labret Often 6 to 8 mm wearable lengthSome ears need a shorter post, measured by the piercer.
Post thickness Often 1.2 mmMatch your piercing's existing thickness.
Decorative end Depends on the available spaceCheck that it touches neither the rim of your ear nor another piece of jewellery.
Hoop No standard diameter to recommendA labret stud is generally more suitable for this flat area.

Measure the diameter on the inside of the hoop, and the wearable length of the post without the end. Jewellery that pinches or pulls should be reassessed with your piercer.

For more information, see our flat piercing guide.

Two designs can have the same post length but take up very different amounts of space. Try on your glasses: the arm must not press against the back or the decorative front of the jewellery.

What jewellery should I choose for my flat piercing?

A flat-back labret stud is generally the most suitable choice for a flat piercing. It keeps the decorative detail clearly visible on the flat area of cartilage. A hoop would often need a very large curve around the rim, so it isn't the usual choice. A lovely stud motif is enough to add dimension.

    Is this jewellery hypoallergenic?

Our piercing jewellery is made from hypoallergenic titanium. Our jewellery has undergone laboratory testing. You'll find the material, finish and dimensions on each product page to help you choose your piece with confidence.

Gold-tone or silver-tone: which finish should I choose?

Gold-tone creates a warmer look, while the white-gold-coloured finish offers cooler, brighter reflections. In both cases, the jewellery is still titanium. To choose, simply compare the two finishes near your face in natural light.

How long does a flat piercing take to heal?

Generally allow 6 to 9 months, sometimes longer, for this cartilage piercing to heal. Have healing confirmed before changing your jewellery. The flat piercing FAQ also covers pain, aftercare and sleep.

How do I care for the white-gold-coloured finish?

For jewellery removed from a healed piercing, use lukewarm water and mild soap, then rinse and dry carefully. Avoid silver polish, abrasive products and stiff brushes. For a recent piercing, follow your piercer's aftercare advice without removing the jewellery.
