Your questions, our advice

Which diameter should I choose for my placement?

Diagram of ear piercing placements

A hoop changes the look of a piercing. The inner diameter makes all the difference:

Size guide - Hoops
PlacementThicknessInner diameter
Helix1,2 mm8 mm / 10 mm
Conch1,2 mm10 mm / 12 mm
Daith1,2 mm / 1,6 mm8 mm / 10 mm
Lobe1,2 mm / 1,6 mm8 mm / 10 mm / 12 mm
Tragus1 mm / 1,2 mm6 mm
Forward helix1 mm / 1,2 mm6 mm
Rook1 mm / 1,2 mm6 mm

* These measurements are a guide. Every ear is different; ideally, measure the distance between your piercing hole and the edge of your ear.

Inner diameter and thickness: what is the difference?

The inner diameter measures the open space in the middle of the ring. The post thickness refers to the part that passes through the piercing. Our piercing rings have a 1.2 mm post thickness, a standard thickness for many ear piercings. Choose the inner diameter according to your placement and anatomy, while keeping a thickness suitable for your piercing.

How do I know if my ring is too tight?

It should not leave marks on your skin, compress the edge of your ear or pull on the piercing. Persistent discomfort calls for professional advice. Do not choose a smaller diameter solely to achieve a very close-fitting look.

Can I put a ring in a new piercing?

The rings in this collection are intended for healed piercings. If your piercing is new and still healing, keep the jewellery fitted by your piercer and wait until it has fully healed before replacing it with a ring.

Which placements can I wear a ring in?

A ring can be worn in the lobe, helix, tragus, conch, daith, rook, snug or anti-helix, with a diameter suited to the placement and your ear.

A flat piercing is worn with a stud, rather than a ring.

Why choose titanium rather than 925 silver or stainless steel?

Hypoallergenic and nickel-free, our titanium is laboratory-tested. It resists oxidation and the dark tarnishing associated with silver, helping it retain its shine over time, including when worn in the shower, during exercise or at the beach.

Can the rings in this collection be worn in the lobe?

Yes, our piercing rings can be worn in the lobe. Their 1.2 mm post thickness is slightly thicker than that of a traditional hoop earring intended for the lobe. It suits lobe piercings that accept this thickness; if you usually wear a thinner post, check this measurement before choosing your ring.

Why is titanium a better choice for sensitive ears?

Our titanium is hypoallergenic and contains no nickel, unlike many pieces of jewellery on the market.

Start with the placement to choose your ring

The distance between the piercing and the edge of your ear helps determine the diameter needed. The jewellery should close without compressing the skin or pulling on the piercing channel. Your ear shape and piercing angle matter more than a so-called standard size; compare it with a ring that already fits well.

Explore jewellery for the helix, tragus, conch, daith or lobe to choose your ring according to its place in your ear stack.

For the rook, snug or anti-helix, this shape requires a particular fit: consult the guidance for each placement and have the design and dimensions that suit you confirmed.

How do I pair my ring with the rest of my ear stack?

The Solstice Ear Stack Builder lets you try combinations online and visualise your ring alongside the other jewellery in your selection. Combine shapes, proportions and finishes to see how each piece fits into your ear stack.

You can refine your combinations and create an ear stack you love before choosing your jewellery.
