Your questions, our advice

Which chain size should I choose?

Our chains are generally worn at the conch, helix or lobe, depending on the design. The length to choose depends on the placement and how you want the chain to hang.

Check each product page for details of the dimensions and fitting options available. The chain should retain a little slack around the piercing or between the pieces it connects.

Do all chains require two piercings?

No, you can also wear a chain around a single piercing: depending on the design, both ends attach to the same piece of jewellery to form a loop. Two piercings are only needed if you want to connect two separate piercings.

Can I wear a chain on a healing piercing?

Our chains are intended for healed piercings. Movement and snagging can pull on the jewellery. Wait until the piercing has healed and seek your piercer's advice before adding an accessory to a recent piercing.

Can I sleep or exercise with a chain?

A chain is more likely to catch on hair, clothing or equipment. On a threadless stud, the end is held in place by a push-fit connection and may come loose if pulled. However, this does not guarantee that it will release before injuring your ear; a threaded fastening does not protect against snagging either.

For sleeping or activities where the chain could be pulled, the safest approach is to remove the chain while keeping the supporting jewellery suited to your piercing in place.

A line that connects your ear stack

A chain draws the eye from one piece to the next. It can drape subtly or form a more flowing curve. Consider your two attachment points together: their distance and height matter just as much as the stated chain length.

Depending on its attachments and the placements listed on its product page, a chain can complement jewellery in the lobe, helix, tragus or conch. Start with the jewellery you already wear to choose your attachment points and the drape you want.

Create a connection without overcrowding

A fine chain can be enough to transform two simple pieces. Leave each design visible and avoid attachments getting in each other’s way. Try out the balance of your ear stack in the Solstice Ear Stack Builder, then check that the jewellery and attachment rings are compatible in practice.
